Under one roof: Ronnie Jordan & KontraBand Muzik
Winthrop University’s DiGiorgio Student Union Programming
Board hosted a cultural event last Friday with comedian Ronnie Jordan and KontraBand
Muzik for listening pleasures.
After a long day of rain, ice and snow, the event was still
to be held at 8 p.m. at The Edge stage in the DiGiorgio Campus Center. Nothing was going to get in the way.
Upon arrival, the audience seemed to be slim, but after
getting a closer look, the only thing slim was the amount of seating left.
Ronnie Jordan had the crowd with tears in their eyes as they
laughed at his jokes and other comical actions.
“Due to the weather, I did not expect this many people to
come out for the show,” explained DSU member Justine Zipp, who explained how
funny Ronnie Jordan was.
Once Ronnie Jordan was done, KontraBand Muzik made their way
to the stage.
The crowd was entertained as they performed several songs
ranging from cover songs to their originals in a variety of genres.
KontraBand Muzik’s music even made Gumby do a little dance
which had the crowd in shock, unaware that Gumby had any moves.
Passion Bankhead’s reaction to the night was, “I am so happy
I decided to leave my room, despite the weather, because the Ronnie Jordan was
awesome and KontraBand Muzik made me want to dance!”
As the show concluded, the audience had the opportunity to
take pictures with the acts and purchase any merchandise they brought.
